Guitar Processor Lineup in 2024

Updated: Oct 6

As we reach the midpoint of 2024, we've taken a close look at the state of guitar processors on the market. This includes both the latest models and well-established favorites that have received significant software updates, keeping them competitive with newer generations of equipment. The following list is not a ranking, so the order is entirely random.

1. Fender Tone Master Pro

Fender Tone Master Pro

One of the newest players on the market. Its powerful computing capabilities and user-friendly features borrowed from Helix and Cortex make this a heavyweight contender in the realm of guitar processors. Fender didn't just take the best from the competition; they also introduced several unique features that enhance the usability of their flagship model. The downside is the still-developing software, but knowing Fender's professionalism, this is likely a temporary issue. The powerful processor promises long-term development of this platform.

2. Line 6 - Helix Family

Line 6 - Helix

If there were a competition for the best customer support, Line 6 would be a dominant player. Regular software updates ensure that despite the hardware's age and the lack of features like a touch screen, the Helix products are continuously evolving with new effects and functions. The wide range of Helix products—from the compact HX Stomp to the flagship Floor model—means that there is something for everyone, regardless of needs and budget. The shared software across models ensures a smooth transition between them. The downside? Fans of profiling won't find what they're looking for in the Helix series, and this is unlikely to change unless a Helix 2 is released, which is rumored but not confirmed.

3. BOSS GT-1000

BOSS GT-1000

Another powerhouse. With 32-bit/96 kHz sampling, Bluetooth connectivity, and mobile app control, along with the legendary build quality that BOSS is known for, the GT-1000 has plenty of strengths to be considered a top-tier guitar processor. This model is an "all-in-one" machine, satisfying all our stage and studio needs (USB audio, MIDI interface).

4. Kemper Profiler

Kemper Profiler

The technology behind the Profilers is the oldest in this group, but Kemper continues to deliver software updates. Although not as frequent as Line 6, when they do come, they significantly enhance the user experience. Features like using Kemper products as audio interfaces and the Liquid Profiler technology, which allows for more flexible use of sound profiles, keep pushing the boundaries of what users expect.

5. Neural DSP Quad Cortex

Neural DSP Quad Cortex

The face of guitar processors in recent years has had its challenges. After the initial hype and deserved praise for its sound capabilities, there was significant disappointment in the producers' approach to software updates, leaving the potential of this fantastic product underutilized. Fortunately, recent months have shown progress, especially with the long-awaited mobile app. The Quad Cortex still has immense development potential and will remain a top choice among guitar processors for years. With regular software updates, the QC is entering its prime.

6. Headrush Prime

Headrush Prime

Headrush's flagship model borrows the best from its predecessors. It combines an "all-in-one" concept with a built-in expression pedal and numerous footswitches, along with a touch screen and Wi-Fi connectivity. Prime has overcome its initial software issues, and its solid computing power guarantees many years of use and enjoyment from software updates.

7. IK Multimedia AmpliTube Tonex Pedal

IK Multimedia AmpliTube Tonex Pedal

Another young player in this lineup. A complete stage setup in a compact pedal. The groundbreaking Tonex AI Machine Modeling technology allows for modeling everything, with VIR Cabinet simulation providing perfect sound in any situation. It also features a noise gate, parametric EQ, compressor, and five stereo reverbs. The pristine sound quality, thanks to 24-bit/192 kHz processing, an extremely wide frequency range (5Hz-24kHz), and a dynamic range of 123 dB, ensures some of the best sounds available. The device is designed for easy switching during concerts, making setting changes quick and simple.

Summary

Each of these devices is a serious contender in the world of guitar processors. Often, the choice between models comes down to minor details, visual appeal, or the ease of use of one company's software over another's. We hope that the above article will help you choose your dream guitar processor.
